Biography His Excellency Dr David Nkedianye is the first Governor of Kajiado County Government.He holds a PhD from University of Edinburgh- UK, between August 2005-August 2008, Masters in Rural Sociology and Community Development at the University of Nairobi in 2004. He studied Bachelor of Education from Catholic University of East Africa.

Between the year 1990- 1999 Nkedianye was enrolled in The Catholic University of Eastern Africa for a  Post graduate Dip. in Planning and management of Development Projects during the period  of 1990, he was awarded  a Certificate  of the Second Best Teacher on Teaching Practice – Siriba Teachers’ College with Diploma in Education from the same college.

H.E. Nkedianye worked as a Deputy Headmaster for Mashuuru Secondary School, (Kajiado)  between 1990-1996. later in 2002 he participated in various projects as a Community Liaison Officer (consultant for the Mara Conservancy, Trans Mara District), Conducted a survey ‘Assessing information needs of leaders for better policy and decision making’ in collaboration with ILRI which  covered four divisions of Kajiado District and eventually on the same year he  did an evaluation on ACC’s EU-funded projects covering the Mara, Lumo, Kitengela and Shompole areas.

Between the year 2002-2005 he was appointed as a community  facilitator International Livestock Research Institute (Northern Tanzania and Southern Kenya Pastoral project) whereby he Facilitated the provision of breeding bulls for farmers in the target pastoral areas. In August 2005-January 2010 Nkedianye was a Graduate Fellow, International Livestock Research Institute, Nairobi, Kenya. Nkedianye was appointed theChairman of Board of Directors, Kajiado Pastoralist Organization in 2006.

During the same period he Published various papers on Land use, Drought mitigation, Pastoral Systems and Livelihoods. In 2008- 2009he was aResearch Associate and Fellow (Founding Cohort), Center for Collaborative Conservation, Colorado State University.At the same time he was aConsultantworking with the African Wildlife Foundation (AWF) on a USATD-funded project, on an integratedlivelihoods programme. In 2009-2011 Nkedianye became a Project Manager, African Wildlife Foundation – USAID-funded Conservation Program.

From June 2011-2012 he was the Deputy Co-coordinator/Director of The Centre for Sustainable Dryland Ecosystems and Societies – Kabete Campus-USAID funded UoN-CSU Project on Higher Education for Drylands in Kenya and at the same time served as a Part-time Lecturer, Pastoral Systems, Human Ecology – University of Nairobi. Later in between October 2010-January 2011 he worked as a Consultant with International Organization for Migration (IOM)  working on a study with regard to pastoral livelihood diversification, climate change mitigation and mobility.
